Sanctuary

Unity of New Westminster's sanctuary is a lovely and bright non denominational sacred space which can seat a maximum of 90 people. The padded seats are able to be moved, to suit your preferred setup. The sanctuary is equipped with an electric piano, WiFi, a large screen smart TV, a laptop, high definition camera, laptop, microphones and sound system. Live stream to YouTube is available for your special event. Sanctuary rental includes use of the hall and the kitchen facilities.

Community Hall

Our community hall accommodates up to 60 people seated at 6' rectangular tables. The hall is available for rent and is perfect for birthday parties, yoga classes or dance classes. It would also work well as a meeting, seminar or rehearsal space.

Music and dancing are welcome. Please be considerate of our neighbours. Music and event noise must remain at a reasonable level at all times and must not disturb the quiet, peace, or enjoyment of the surrounding neighbourhood. After 10:00 pm, noise levels must be significantly reduced.

Unity of New Westminster's community hall is equipped with a 60" HD Smart TV suitable for PowerPoint presentations from your PC, YouTube viewing or casting from your mobile device.

Hall rental includes use of the kitchen, including the fridge, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, dishes, and cutlery.

Renters are welcome to bring their own food, cake, and non-alcoholic beverages. Outside caterers are also permitted.

Cleanup & Garbage

Renters are responsible for leaving the rented areas clean and tidy. All garbage, recycling, and compost generated by your event must be taken with you when you leave. Do not use Unity's indoor or outdoor bins for event waste.

Failure to remove event waste may result in a deduction from your refundable security deposit.

Alcohol: Alcohol may be served with prior approval. A BC Special Event Permit is required for events where alcohol will be served or sold. Renters are responsible for obtaining the permit, complying with all permit requirements, and providing Unity of New Westminster with a copy of the approved permit before the event.

Sanctuary Rental:

  • Minimum rental 2 hours
  • One time use (weddings,celebrations of life):
    • $250 for first 2 hrs;   ($125 each hour)
    • additional time $125/hr
  • Recurring use:
    • $200 for first 2 hrs;   ($100 each hour)
    • additional time $100/hr 

Community Hall rental:

  • Minimum rental 2 hours
  • Single use:
    • $90 for first 2 hours;  ($45 each hour)
    • Additional hours $40/hr
  • Recurring use: (4 rentals minimum)
    • $80 for first 2 hours;  ($40 each hour)
    • Additional hours $35/hr
  • Rate for non-profits $35/hr

Audio/Visual Services:

A/V equipment is available onsite for operation by the renter's technician or contracted A/V provider. Anyone operating the equipment must first be shown how to use it by an authorized Unity of New Westminster representative. Equipment requirements and access must be confirmed in advance.

Catering:

Outside caterers are permitted. Kitchen facilities are available to support catered events, with access and requirements confirmed in advance.

Deposits

To secure the rental, we require at time of booking: 

  • $200 Refundable security deposit
  • 50% rental deposit

Cancellation Policy

  • More than 14 days before the event: Booking deposit and security deposit fully refunded. 
  • 7–14 days before the event: 50% of the booking deposit refunded. Security deposit fully refunded.
  • Less than 7 days before the event: Booking deposit is non-refundable. Security deposit fully refunded.
  • If Unity of New Westminster cancels the rental: All amounts paid by the renter will be fully refunded. Refunds will be issued within 5 days.
